Position: STI/TB Lab Manager

Job Description:
This role supports the laboratory director in managing STI and TB lab sections, ensuring safe, efficient operations across clinical diagnostic, epidemiologic, and analytic services. Responsibilities include supervising lab scientists, overseeing lab procedures and compliance, managing budgets, developing new tests, and coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies. Acts as the director when needed and supports lab personnel decisions, quality assurance, and grant writing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee lab operations and quality assurance for STI and TB lab sections.
- Implement policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
- Coordinate resources, manage budgets, and engage with vendors.
- Consult with agencies and community labs on testing and results.
- Supervise and train lab personnel; provide expert consultation.
- Ensure adherence to federal/state regulations and maintain accreditation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in biological/physical sciences, 7+ years STI/TB lab experience (preferred), 3+ years supervisory.
- Relevant licensure (MLS/MT ASCP/AMT) required.
- Strong knowledge in microbiology, chemistry, and lab safety. Ability to manage budgeting, quality assurance, and inter-agency collaboration.
